People interested in what goes into running a festival or who would like a career in the festival or music industries can now apply for the two 12-month apprenticeships, one for Reading and one for Leeds.

There are also ten three-week-long internships available, covering Marketing, Artist Liaison, Sponsorship, Technical Production, Digital and Social Media, Sustainability and PR, which will be with the festivals’ online and print PRs Hall or Nothing and their broadcast PR company Scream.

Applicants will be asked to compose a letter of no more than 500 words on why they would like to be considered, giving details on the area they would prefer to work in.

The placements will take place at Festival Republic’s HQ in London or at the festivals themselves, and candidates must be available to work between 6 – 27 August 2012, and must be able to travel and live in central London during this time, plus be willing to camp on site at Reading or Leeds when required.

The aim of the scheme is to “give invaluable experience in the live music/ events industry to young people looking to benefit from the opportunity to enhance their skills and experience as they look to begin their careers in difficult economic times.”

While the apprenticeships are open to 16 – 24-year-olds only, all ages will be considered for the internships.
