First acts announced for WOMAD 2012

Augmented by WOMAD stalwart Justin Adams on guitar, among others, Plant’s new venture promises “blues, gospel and psychedelia inspired by the roots music of Mississippi, Appalachia, Gambia, Bristol and the foothills of Wolverhampton.”
Buena Vista Social Club, Raghu Dixit, Ane Brun and Terem Quartet are also on the bill for the event, which returns to Charlton Park, near Malmesbury in Wiltshire, on 27-29 July.
Lo’Jo, Disraeli & The Small Gods, Alaev Family, Boubacar Traore and Grupo Fantasma are also confirmed to appear, with Joe Driscoll & Seckou Kouyat, Narasirato, Peatbog Faeries, Spiro and the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra completing the initial line-up.
More acts are expected to be announced shortly.
WOMAD tickets are onsale now, with an Adult Weekend Ticket priced at £135 with a Teenager (14-17 Year Olds) Weekend Ticket costing £70.

WOMAD (World Of Music, Arts and Dance) held its first festival in 1982 at the Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. Over the intervening 30 years, the Peter Gabriel-fronted organisation have hosted festivals across the globe.
