Queen have been previously linked to Sonisphere 2012 when a tabloid reported the legendary rock band were to perform the festival with Adam Lambert as a frontman.

The newspaper also said that Faith No More will play the festival which returns to Knebworth House in Hertfordshire from 6-8 July.

The organisers revealed last year that Green Day were in their long list of targets.

Skrillex and more are also among the Sonisphere rumours.

Queen's Roger Taylor and Brian May played a medley of tracks with Lambert on the US show, they last resurrected the Queen act with Paul Rogers, between 2004-2009.

Queen famously played the grounds of Knebworth House back in 1986 on their 'Kind of Magic Tour', their last ever show with their late vocalist Freddie Mercury.
