Organisers revealed that the dance festival was moving last year, amid the belief the event had “outgrown”
its old base at Butlins in Minehead. ??The new location was unveiled on the event’s website today, along with the news
that the team behind Glastonbury’s Shangri-La had designed the festival space.
A statement on their website
revealed more details: “There will be totally new, purpose-built, hi-spec venues – some on land and some floating
on water. The biggest and most diverse lineup Bloc has ever known will also be presented across the permanent venues that
will be erected on the site – a 30m geodesic dome and the majestic Hub stage from Glastonbury. All the main stages will
be covered and have walls.
“There will be mind-blowing audio-visual experiences that we could not have even
dreamed of at our previous, smaller venues. There will be awe-inspiring projections and installations making use of the brooding
buildings that dominate the area.”
The festival will utilise its own television station, BlocTV, and will
have a 6am licence.
BLOC Weekend 2012 takes place from
6-7 July.
Bloc Weekend tickets are available
now, with a Weekend ticket priced at £99 and ‘Express’ queue-jump tickets at £125. There’s also
currently a “buy five tickets, get a sixth free” promotion running, for one month only.
