The European Border Breakers Awards, which honour the best new music acts in Europe, took place at the
Eurosonic Noorderslag music festival in Groningen, The Netherlands.
Belgian act Selah Sue won the Public Choice Award.
British act Anna Calvi performed at the ceremony and on collecting her award said: "I am really honoured
to have won this award. My father is Italian, my Mother grew up in Switzerland. I don't just feel English, I feel very European
and it's been really important for me that the record has done well in Europe as a whole.”
Ireland's
rising star, James Vincent McMorrow performed
two songs at the awards show and accepted his award saying: "This is fantastic. I was here at Eurosonic last year and
it was here where it all began. From then on it led to incredible things and this award means a lot to me."

Holland, the show included live performances by Selah Sue,
Agnes Obel, James Vincent McMorrow, Elektro Guzzi,
Boy and Anna
Calvi. ??Alexandra Stan was also present to collect her award, while Swedish House Mafia, Ben
L'Oncle Soul and Afrojack sent video messages.
Through these awards, the European Commission spotlights emerging European artists and groups who have successfully
reached audiences beyond their home country.
At the same time the awards highlight and promote the creativity
and diversity of European music and its role in bringing people together and forging mutual understanding.
