New London festival announced

A massive three-day event, the TDK Cross Central Festival, will transform a Victorian goods depot in Kings Cross into a block-rocking party, featuring 13 spectrum-spanning soundsystems and stages.

Set over the August bank holiday weekend (27th-29th) , the TDK Cross Central Festival aims to bridge the gap between live music, film, club culture, and art, by providing punters with a multi-media mash-up incorporating the best of what's new.

The innovative event will feature a cross section of more than 100 diverse acts, including British Sea Power, Scratch Perverts, Kosheen, Loose Cannons, and 2 Many DJs.

Organiser Matt Lawes, of Big Box, said: "The barrier between dance, alternative, and indie is definitely coming down, with more live dance acts emerging onto the scene and clear influences from guitar based music penetrating the cutting edge end of the dance spectrum.

"Nowadays dance enthusiasts are likely to buy a Strokes album along with their Tom Middleton compilation. It's a sign of the times.

"The location, scale and team behind this event enables TDK Cross Central to push ahead and exceed the expectations of this widening, most discerning audience and introduce them to the modern festival in every sense."

Although Friday's line-up has not yet been announced, it is described as "a house driven polysexual experience with Latin influences".

Saturday will offer a broad menu of live acts spanning jazz, indie, hip-hop and dance, including Dogs Die In Hot Cars, DJ Krush, Bonobo, and The Others.

And Sunday will see a number of producers and DJs covering all genres of dance, featuring the likes of DJ Yoda, Plaid, and Mark Rae.

Festival organisers are keen to emphasise the festival's multi-media function, with a never-seen-before programme of film and visual showcasing, promised to blow your socks off!

The festival will be spread over three main areas of the disused goods yard in Kings Cross, using exterior courtyards and indoor warehouses to create a 'music village', with additional stages, a big screen, and a variety of kitchens serving food from all over the world.

All three dates of the TDK Cross Central Festival, which is also sponsored by Virtual Festivals' radio partners XfM, will rage on until 5am, at which time everyone will have to go home and grab some sleep ready for the next day!
