Continuing on the classical tip brought by the English National Opera at
Glastonbury 2004, the ninth Musical Extravaganza Weekend takes place between July 30 and
August 1 at Glastonbury Abbey.
Perhaps providing some light relief and a big 'thank you' to Glastonbury residents for putting up with the hoards who
descended on the area last month, Van Morrison, The Royal Philarmonic Orchestra and Jools
Holland will play across the three evenings - the latter with support from Ruby Turner
and Sam Brown.
Organiser Dick Vernon said: "It is a locally aimed thing and will hopefully benefit
the community by bringing in lots of business and trade. It's should be a very exciting and vibrant weekend - but totally
different to the Glastonbury Festival.
"Michael Eavis is very involved and it was
his wish to expand it from just one evening, as it has been in the past, into a whole weekend."
The event sold out
last year so for more information on how to book your tickets click here.
