The Wombats are the latest band act confirmed for the Forestry Commission’s Live Music series next year.

In what will be a local show for the Liverpool band, they will play a one-off gig in Delamere Forest, Cheshire on Sunday 8 July.

Commenting on the gig, singer/guitarist Matthew Murphy said, “We have heard so much about the vibe at Delamere Forest gigs, it's been on our radar for some time and we’re really pleased to be asked to play - here's to a Party in a Forest.”

After a busy festival summer for the band in 2011, this July show suggests 2012 will be just as hectic.

With the Live Music series taking place in seven woodland locations each summer, income generated from ticket sales from the shows is spent on improving the forests for both people and wildlife.

Tickets go on sale this Friday (16 December), priced at £25.50 (plus booking fee), available from the Forestry Commission box office line on 03000 680400 and on the Commission’s website.
