Video: Rob da Bank on The Cure's Bestival show
Live album of The Cure's Bestival set released 5 December
Chris Swindells - 01 December 2011
"We were waiting for the Festival Awards, and I was checking my blackberry every five minutes waiting for The Cure to confirm and [it was] one of the best moments
of my Bestival life." Rob da Bank said about finalising
the booking of The Cure for Bestival 2011, a band he'd wanted ever since he founded the festival in 2005.
Admitting he had been a fan since the eighties, the Bestival founder said of their output: "I was an avid
collector."
Talking about the release, Sunday Best founder and Radio One DJ Rob da Bank said: "Robert Smith actually got in touch straight
after Bestival and said he really wanted to put out the live set on our label, Sunday Best Recordings, and he wanted to do
it for charity, he didn't want anyone to be making any profit from it, he wanted all the money to go to a charity of our choice
which ended up as the Youth Trust on the Isle of Wight which do great work with underprivileged kids."
The
double 'Bestival Live 2011' CD album is out on Monday 5th December through Sunday Best Recordings
and available through iTunes, online outlets and selected record stores.
