Glastonbury crowned Best Major Festival
Somerset bash once again crowned Best Major Festival
Chris Swindells - 14 November 2011
The festival celebrated it's 41st year with a overwhelmingly large bill as traditional, topped by US pop-supremo Beyonce, local alt-rock heroes Coldplay
and the biggest band in the world - U2.
The five day
event was attended by more than 177,000 people as the festival became, for the one weekend, the 32nd largest
city in the UK, ahead of Peterborough in 33rd!
The festival had mixed blessings with the weather as heavy rain
hampered the first few days of the festival and was followed by a heatwave on the closing day of the festival.
Secret
slots from Radiohead and Pulp stole the headlines over the weekend as famous faces in attendance included Wayne Rooney
and the Arctic Monkeys.

Glastonbury Festival will take a
'fallow year' off in 2012 to focus on the regenerating the farm and will return in 2013 with what will surely be another world
class event.
The award was decided by a judging panel made up of journalists and reviewers who have been visiting
festivals and scoring them on criteria which have been set by the industry.
