Denmark's Roskilde Festival marred by tragedy

A young man was declared dead at Roskilde Hospital on Saturday afternoon, after being found unconscious in his tent.

A spokesman for Roskilde Festival said: "On Saturday, at around noon, a festival guest was found unconscious in a tent in the southern part of the camping areas of the festival. He was immediately transferred to Roskilde Hospital where he was declared dead."

The victim was a 20 year-old Swedish man, whose identity has been protected while police notify his family.

The Roskilde Festival spokesman said that there was no indication a crime had been committed, but was unable to confirm a possible cause for the death.

Aside from the tragedy, and the fact there was enough rain to rival Glastonbury, organisers have hailed the event an overwhelming success - a point shared by Morrissey, who told the crowd it was the best European festival he has ever played.

Much of the talk of the weekend centred around a 25-foot high replica of the Israeli security fence, a protest piece by the charity Dan Aid Church called 'Make Peace Not Walls'.

While the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen condemned the protest as inappropriate for a music festival, it inspired Korn to play a cover of Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick In The Wall' before signing the construction.

Kings Of Leon, N.E.R.D, Pixies and Zero 7 were just some of the other acts that played.
