Captain Sensible, more for Oxjam Tottenham show
'Chances To Be Heard' is on 15 October...
Chris Eustace - 10 October 2011
Tottenham Chances in London will host Chances To Be Heard on Saturday 15 October, featuring The Damned’s Captain Sensible and Monty Oxymoron performing an improvised set, plus Daniel Spiller And The Broken Record Project, XYM The Yorkshire Rapper, Nike Jemiyo, Uncle Frank and TJ Topper, Bukbu and Boca Nova.
A third performance space will house live comedy, with sets from Comedy Heat featuring James Loveridge, Johnathan Hearn, Liam McKay and David Trent.
Tickets are onsale now, priced at £10, with all proceeds going to Oxfam.
After Tottenham Chances was caught up in the riots in August, the event will celebrate the local community as well as raising awareness and funds for those in need internationally.
“I was inspired by the spontaneous events of the ‘60s,” said event organiser Graham Hornsby. “So far there’s great variety in the bands, from rapping to old music hall. Considering what’s happened in Tottenham recently, I think this is a great way of celebrating community by helping people worldwide.”
Oxjam’s month of shows around the country was launched last week in London with gigs featuring Fatboy Slim, Brett Anderson, Charlie Simpson and Damon Albarn’s DRC Music project. You can read the VF verdict here.
