The UK rockers, who have recently released their forth album ‘Velociraptor!’, have been booked as the penultimate
act for the touring music festival.
Speaking
to magazine Rip It Up, singer Tom Meighan said: "We're doing the Big Day Out and I think we're second before the headliners,
which is amazing."
It will be the third time the group have appeared at Big Day Out after
shows in 2007 and 2010.
Meighan added that he’s much happily with a later slot: "I love it, man. We're not on at 2.30pm in the afternoon,
which was horrendous," he said.
No acts have been officially announced for the Big Day Out 2012 line
up but there are plenty of Big Day Out 2012 rumours circulating on the Internet.
Festival
rumours include Eminem who has two dates in Australia
booked in December, Blink 182 who have been suggested
in the past and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Other names expected to appear include Elbow, James
Blake, Metronomy and Yuck.
Muse have headlined the festival each time Kasabian
have performed.
Big Day Out 2012 dates are yet to be officially confirmed, but they are expected
to be in January as usual.
