Queen to reform with Paul Rodgers for Olympics?

'If something came up as special, we could maybe do that'

The drummer revealed that Free vocalist Paul Rodgers, who toured and recorded with the band for five years until 2009, may yet return.

The band have not been active since his departure, but Taylor has now said that they have, “not ruled out” collaborating again.

When asked by Rolling Stone if they would consider playing with Rodgers again, Taylor replied: “I wouldn't rule it out. In fact I read the other day Paul said he wouldn't mind doing something. If something came up as special, we could maybe do that, maybe the Olympics or something. But I certainly wouldn't rule it out and he is a wonderful singer, there's no doubt about that.”

There are plans for a series of concerts and events around next year’s Olympics, with Radio 1 already having announced a huge free festival on Hackney Marshes on 23–24 June 2012.

Plan B and Leona Lewis have already been confirmed to play the event, with tickets to be distributed via a ballot.

More announcements are expected in the coming months.

Taylor’s former Queen bandmate Brian May made a special guest appearance onstage at My Chemical Romance’s headlining show at Reading Festival 2011 last month, as they encored with a cover of ‘We Will Rock You’ and their own chart-topper ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’.
