R°Ck Stars, Pop Stars and Diva's heading to the Isle of Wight for Bestival 2011 this weekend would be well advised to incorporate wellies and an umbrella into their costume
as rain is predicted throughout the weekend.
Those who are arriving on Wednesday night for the island festival
may catch the best weather of the weekend, with sunny intervals predicted throughout the day and a cloudy evening, and a high
of 17 °C.
Thursday will see Santigold, Richard X and the La's amongst many
others open the eighth Bestival with a day of grey clouds and intermittent drizzle, with light rain predicted for Thursday
night and a high of 16°C.
Friday's drum and bass-heavy line-up will see Beardyman, Zane Lowe
and Magnetic Man perform through a day of light rain,
with heavy rain and temperatures of 16-18°C predicted for an evening with headliners Pendulum.
Conditions will improve very slightly in time for Saturdays fancy dress day – the theme of the year is Rock Stars,
Pop Stars and Divas. PJ Harvey, Village People and Crystal Castles
are amongst the scheduled acts with light rain showers and a high of just 18°C expected throughout the day. Fortunately
Saturdays headliners The Cure will see a dry, if chilly evening
with partly cloudy conditions and a temperature of around 14°C.
Heavy rain is predicted for Sunday, likely
driving crowds to the Big Top arena for sets from Fatboy Slim
and Noah and the Whale. Again, conditions should
be better for the final night – Bjork will close Bestival 2011 to a cloudy evening with a high of 15°C.
