Chad Smith reveals RHCP plans to come to UK next summer
Chris Swindells - 05 September 2011
Already tipped for Reading and Leeds Festival 2012, as well as T in the Park 2012 and Sonisphere 2012, the drummer told BBC
Radio 1 Newsbeat that they are looking at dates.
He said: "I think that we'll come and play over here next year. We know that the Olympics are over here and we thought maybe we'll coordinate."
Red Hot Chili Pepper's tenth studio album 'I'm With You' came out August 26.
The 2012 London Olympic games take place from July 27 to August 12 and are centred on the Olympic Park in Stratford, East London.
BBC Radio 1 will be hosting their own special event to coincide with the summer of the Olympic Games in the London borough of Hackney. Radio 1's Hackney Weekend 2012 will take place over two days, with live music across six stages in front of 100,000 people. Red Hot Chili Peppers are strong rumours to play the free two day event, which has already signed up Plan B and Leona Lewis to play.
The event takes place from June 23-24, over the weekend Glastonbury traditionally host their annual festival, which next year will take a 'fallow' year off to allow Worthy Farm to recover.
