Yamaha have donated a BB424X bass guitar, which has been signed by legendary Motorhead bassist Lemmy, after the band closed the festival last month.
The metal festival hosted its eighth year as an open-air event in August, playing host to metal giants such as HammerFall,
1349, Exodus, Napalm Death, WASP and Motörhead.
Attendees of Bloodstock Open Air 2011 donated £1775 to Teenage
Cancer Trust, a charity which helps combat cancer amongst young people.
The funds raised will go towards
building specialist care units for young cancer patients in hospitals.
Jen Walker, music co-ordinator
for Teenage Cancer Trust, commented: “We’d never been a part of an event so predominantly ‘metal’
before but our message was welcomed with open arms and the support and generosity of the Bloodstock staff
and festival-goers has been amazing.
“We’re really excited about auctioning the bass Yamaha
kindly donated to us and Lemmy generously signed – Lemmy is a legend and we can’t
wait to see how much this rare item will raise!”
