Their morose, brooding rock is undoubtedly a thing of beauty

As Leeds Festival enters the final few wind-ravaged laps, The National step out to a criminally quiet crowd, despite the promise of a nothing but stunning show.
As the post-punk indie kings kick things off with the majestic slowburner 'Start A War', you can only wonder at fans who endured Jimmy Eat World but turn their back on Brit Award nominees who consistently find their albums amidst end of year picks.
Their morose, brooding rock is undoubtedly a thing of beauty, but the majority of fans wish Cincinnati's finest would find themselves an intimate, dark tent so we can all get back to mindlessly bouncing around in the Main Stage mud.
