Jane's Addiction cancel Reading and Leeds Festival shows
Band pull out last minute as Perry Farrell loses his voice
Chris Swindells - 27 August 2011
Jane's Addiction released a statement this morning (August 28) stating;
"This morning in London his doctor determined that Perry Farrell's
vocal condition remains unchanged from last night. Farrell has been ordered to not use his voice until further notice for
risk of vocal damage. His condition remains day to day."
"Again Jane's Addiction wishes to convey their sincere apologies to the fans who had been looking forward to their scheduled performances at Reading and Leeds."
Crystal Castles who were scheduled to perform before Jane's Addiction at Leeds Festival 2011 will now headline the NME/Radio One Stage.
Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro came on stage ten minutes after the band were due to start their Reading Festival performance last night to announce that Jane's Addiction would not be performing due to issues with Farrell's voice, which he's apparently lost.

Fans started booing and showing their dislike for the announcement immediately and quickly left to see The Strokes, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Midnight Beast who headline the other stages at Reading Festival 2011 tonight.
It's unclear whether Jane's Addiction will fulfill their commitment to play Leeds Festival 2011 tomorrow evening, an official statement is expected from the band and festival promoter, Festival Republic, shortly.
Paul Sydenham from Gillingham, Kent said: "I didn't believe it at first, I thought it was a joke. He said he loved us and that Farrell had a sore throat, and that they'd be back. Then it sunk in that he meant it and they weren't going to play. We're really dissapointed. Everyone was unhappy in there and now I've got to go and watch The Strokes."
Farrell's wife Etty Lau Farrell posted on Twitter earlier, saying that she was travelling with the band and Perry was taking medication, she posted this picture of the singer.
She then confirmed the singer had to cancel the show tweeting: "I am so sorry. The Reading curse for @perryfarrell..."
Fans have already started airing their disappointment on Twitter with Aydogan Mehmet () tweeting: "#JanesAddiction - can't understand why they couldn't have come out, Perry conducts the crowd & we sing our hearts out".
Another user on the social networking site, ModerateRock wrote: "Jane's frontman has 'lost his voice' apparently. Unhappy crowd boo. A lot. Nothing changes."
