The eccentric music veteran introduced his set as "compressed history of psychedelic rock", before launching
into early Pink Floyd tracks 'Astronomy Domine' and 'Lucifer Sam'.
As well as
his own material, Hitchcock also performed renditions of Beatles tracks including 'Rain'
and Captain Beefheart songs including 'Electricity'.
Almost immediately after his main
stage set, he played a set in the science-themed Einstein's Garden about his favourite insects.
True to form, Hitchcock
treated fans to some bizarre stage banter, including some vaguely politically themed chatter during his latter set, when he
claimed David Cameron "dislikes vinegar being rubbed between his shoulder blades" and "doesn't
like a lemon being rammed really hard into his ear."
Explosions In The Sky headline Green Man tonight, with Fleet Foxes headlining tomorrow night and Iron and Wine closing the Welsh festival on Sunday night.
