Bucking the trend in the current climate, all tickets for the 80’s revival festival have gone ahead of the event,
which takes place on 19-21 August.
Rewind promoter David Heartfield
said: “I’m absolutely delighted to announce that tickets to this year’s Rewind Festival have now completely
sold out - I cannot imagine a more perfect weekend.”
The Human League, Village People, Kim Wilde,
ex-Frankie Goes To Hollywood singer Holly Johnson,
ABC, China Crisis, Toyah, Billy Ocean, Go West, Average White Band and Earth Wind & Fire
are just some of the acts playing this year.
Heartfield also revealed that he was considering
introducing a “best costume” award for the festival: “We’ve had an increasing number of audience
members turn up in full-blown character costumes.
“Last year we had about ten Wonder Women, several Spocks,
a couple of Pirates a la Adam Ant, a suspicious number of Tellytubbies, Ghostbusters and a Woody Woodpecker.”
This year’s event will have even more 80’s chic with the introduction of the The Wine Bar,
while The Groovy Picture House, the world’s first solar powered cinema, will screen classic 80’s
blockbusters, independent films and cinema shorts throughout the festival.
