Rhythms of the World Festival organisers were a little surprised to see Motorhead’s lead guitarist Phil Campbell roll onto the Priory Grounds site in a limo on Sunday.

Guitarist Phil Campbell was meant to be travelling several miles south of the festival to play Sonisphere at Knebworth House instead. However it seems the limo driver got a little confused, and ended up taking the veteran rocker to RotW instead.

Steve Smither, RotW performance director told local paper The Comet: “All of a sudden, we had the guitarist from Motorhead turn up in a limo!"

We found it very amusing. When he got out on the site, he came to the performance reception. We told him he was at the wrong festival, but he did say it looked interesting and that he wouldn’t mind playing there."

"He then went back to his limo and had a bit of a go at the driver, telling him that they’d got the wrong place.

Motorhead went on to play Sonisphere 2011 with all three members and dedicated their set to the memory of former guitarist Michael Burston, better known by his stage name of Würzel, who passed on July 9 2011.

Tickets for Sonisphere 2012 went on sale this morning, Foo Fighters and Green Day are both targets for the festival organisers, click here to find out how to buy early bird tickets and receive an exclusive early bird t-shirt.
