Surviving some shameless self-promotion from the band who stream the music video to their latest collaboration with David
Guetta ‘Getting’ Over You’.
Soon enough the curtains fell to reveal the biggest stage
production of the day, a futuristic ensemble of huge screens and a double stage.
Dancers accompanied the band
through the set, first dressed as robot speakers, and later in Star Trek-inspired latex bodysuits. It was what you'd expect
from a headliner and so much more.
It was the kind of set you'd see at an arena tour and that they've brought
such a huge production to a festival is a hugely impressive feat.
The four-piece were certainly ready for this
Oxegen crowd, and ran effortlessly through their huge collection of pop hits.
Each took their
turn in the shared spotlight, but Fergie couldn’t help but steal the show as she sexily strutted her
stuff around the stage, belting out tune after tune.
The multi-talented Will.I.Am got to showcase
his rapping skills too with a (quite literally) breathtaking super-fast solo rap, and at one point accidentally calls Oxegen
'o2', but made up a very smooth freestyle rap about the festival which won them over instantly.
He later ascended
over the stage on a raised podium for a half hour DJ set mid-show. The DJ set went down well to begin with but is a little
drawn out and the crowd started to thin a little, but the full band returned on top form with more classics and even a birthday
tribute to a fan at the front of the crowds.
Two hours of lights, laser shows and pure pop perfection closed the
main stage, and Black
Eyed Peas lovers at any level of fandom were left happy from hearing every BEP classic in a stellar live performance.
