Soon enough the rain set to full downpour mode, but revellers were unfazed, waving Ireland flags emblazoned with The Strokes logo.

Casablancas didn't talk much between songs, nor did he really move from his mic stand, but his stage presence was still striking.

An effortless cool surrounds the band, who have clearly fine-tuned their live craft over the years and delivered the people of Oxegen a focussed, tight collection of crowd-pleasing classics.
