Duran Duran have cancelled their V Festival 2011 appearances after signer Simon Le Bon damaged his voice.

The group will also miss out on their iTunes Festival 2011 date.

The singer told the band’s website: "This has been an extremely difficult decision to make as the injury I seem to have sustained is an internal one and so no-one can tell me exactly how long it’s going to take to mend completely.”

He added: "If we knew exactly when that might be, we wouldn’t have to let this entire run of dates go, but what we feel we can’t keep doing is moving shows piecemeal – as it’s just not fair on the fans.

“This couldn’t have come at a worse time – but I am trying to be philosophical about my recovery as there’s nothing else I can do,” he continued.

No replacements have been announced as yet.
