The Icelandic experimentalist will bring the event to close on the Sunday (11 September) night following headline shows
from The Cure and Pendulum.
Bestival 2011 will return to Robin Hill
Country Park on the Isle of Wight from 8-11 September.
Speaking about the coup, Rob da Bank said: “I honestly can’t believe Björk
is coming to Bestival.
“Without a doubt one of the most iconic musicians of the last century, Björk
is always one step ahead of the pack with her music and innovations and the new Biophilia show is jam-packed full of technology,
great interpretations of her amazing catalogue of songs and some brand new corkers. The grand finale to Bestival 2011 just got better!”
Organisers have said that Bjork will be playing a host
of classic tracks and bringing things right up to date with her current hugely anticipated and inspirational musical project
and album, ‘Biophilia’.
Her new project continues to push the boundaries of entertainment, combining
music, apps, internet installations and live shows.
Other acts set to appear over the weekend include Primal Scream who will play ‘Screamadelica’ as well
as PJ Harvey, Brian Wilson, DJ Shadow, The Maccabees, Robyn,
Public Enemy and many more.
