Friendly Fires show off 'Pala' at Glastonbury 2011

Plus some old favourites and Hawaiian dancers as Ed Macfarlane meets his public

With blue skies over Worthy Farm, the band's set leant heavily on new album 'Pala', with a selection of crowd favourites from their self-titled debut also included. As they opened with 'Lovesick', Macfarlane, wearing a palm tree-patterned shirt, sported his trademark smooth moves from the off, gyrating and jumping around the stage.

Ticker tape was released into the sizeable audience during 'Jump In The Pool', while Macfarlane's first foray towards the fans came at the climax of a stomping 'On Board'.

The band were joined by a quartet of sax and trumpet players for much of their set, 'Show Me Lights' and 'Hurting' getting a big reaction in the sun, while a troupe of dancers in grass skirts came onstage for 'Hawaiian Air', with one of their number making the journey down to the crowd with Macfarlane at the song's end.

Saluting the audience before a closing trio of 'Paris' and 'Kiss Of Life', telling them "it's been a pleasure as always - enjoy the rest of your trip!", he went one step further this time and jumped into the crowd, re-emerging some minutes later, having been retrieved by security, to wave goodbye from the stage.
