Katy B covers The Streets at Beach Break Live
Newton Faulkner plays final day of student bash too
Chris Eustace - 19 June 2011
Before ‘Broken Record’, she told the large main stage student crowd that she herself had been studying before
her music career took off, though she declared: "we won't be doing any essays tonight!"
Backed by a live
band and MC Tipper, they divided the crowd into "boys and girls" for ‘Easy Please Me’, before surprisingly performing
a solo version of ‘Perfect Stranger’, given that collaborators Magnetic Man are due to play next.
The crowd were asked
for their "sexiest Latin moves" for ‘Why You Always Here’, while ‘Katy On A Mission’ segued
into a version of The Streets' ‘Blinded By The Lights’.
Finishing with an animated, ska-infused ‘Lights
On’, Katy B left the stage thanking the "amazing
audience."
Appropriately for a day when the festival's beach saw wakeboarders to the water, surf troubadour
Newton Faulkner played a well-received set beforehand.
Magnetic Man will play next, as the festival's
third and final headliner, while Mark Ronson will play
an after hours DJ set.
