Stevens, wearing a white Stetson, performed backing vocals on 'Afraid of Everyone', a song he contributed to on the band's
recent 'High Violet' album.
Later, he also joined the group for a rendition of 'Terrible Love', which was rapturously
received by the Catalan crowd.
Earlier in the show, the band remarked on how amazing it was to perform on the shores
of the Mediterranean, with singer Matt Berninger joking that he barely noticed "you guys down the front"
thanks to the amazing seaside vistas on the Llevant Stage.
The
National have a busy festival summer ahead, with a headline set at Latitude firmly on their radar.
Primavera Sound 2011 continues tomorrow, with PJ Harvey and Odd Future set to grace Parc del Forum.
