you could do worse than check out Scarletmist.com
Ticket touts at
T are being trashed by Scarlet Mist. This is a free and confidential service, which helps people with spare
face-value tickets to find a buyer. It matches people up, a bit like a dating agency.
The service was set up last year, and has now become an established resource for festival goers. It uses the speed and power of the internet to match ticket buyers with sellers. Wherever possible it does this locally. It is private and makes no charge. Instead, it askes users to donate to one of 4 charities.
To understand Scarlet Mist, you have to understand how touts work. They buy *and* sell tickets from punters, and make their money on the difference.
Anyone unlucky enough to find themselves with an unuseable ticket has a difficult problem. Promoters never issue refunds. So if you cannot find a mate to take the ticket from you, you either have to use eBay or hang around near the turnstiles and look for somebody that wants it.
But if you are caught doing this you risk the wrath of the police, the touts (who would rather kick your head in than let you undercut them) and the chance of not selling it at all.
Last year, Scarlet Mist helped 800 people get to Glastonbury -- tickets that might otherwise have been wasted. It was especially welcomed in the 2 weeks before the festival, when people dropped out from illness and unexpected domestic disasters. This year, the service is hoping to raise £20,000 for charity, and help a few lucky souls get to the ball.
