Weather watch: what to pack for this weekend

Down at the seaside in Brighton for The Great Escape 2011, the bravest revellers might be tempted to take a dip in the water with sunshine forecast for the Thursday (12 May) and Friday (13 May) with highs of 15°C and 14°C respectively.

There is a risk of light rain during the day on Saturday (15 May) with highs of 14°C again.

It’s the turn of Carlisle in Cumbria to host Radio 1’s One Big Weekend 2011 with sunny intervals expected for much of the day on the Saturday and highs of 14°C. There is a chance of light rain showers in the evening though.

Saturday is looking a little more ominous with heavy rain showers predicted and maximum temperatures of 14°C, so don’t forget to pack waterproofs.

Meanwhile, up at Bearded Theory 2011, Thursday looks like it’s going to start sunny before morphing into white cloud in the afternoon before chances of light rain in the evening with temperatures reaching 15°C.

There will be spells of sunshine on the Saturday but festival-goers should expect showers, heavy at times, as well with highs of 14°C. Sunday looks a little better with sunny intervals expected and a little bit of cloud. Temperatures will reach 13°C.
