And nowhere was this more apparent on Coachella's opening day than in the Sahara dance tent, where UK breaks pioneers teamed
up with US legendary Janes Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, for an epic set that
sounds like it shouldn't work... but totally did!
Other dance acts showing the yanks how it's done included Carl
Cox and Audio Bullys. On the hair and guitars front, The Zutons got everyone in a sweat (including themselves!) over at the Outdoor Theatre Stage, dousing
the crowd in their Mersey-beat street-sleaze.
Franz Ferdinand
drew one of the biggest crowds of the day on the Coachella Stage, warming up for '80s revivalists Depeche Mode
with favourites like 'Take Me Out', 'Matinee', 'Walking Away', and a raucous work-out of latest single 'The Fallen'. The less
said about Depeche Mode the better...
White Rose Movement, Nine Black Alps, The Rakes and Lady
Sovereign also drew impressive crowds, as US music fans flocked to see what all the fuss is about over the pond.
