Organisers today confirmed that the foursome will co-headline at this summer's 10th annual V Festival
and claimed it will be the band's only summer festival in the UK, crushing rumours that they would be playing at T
In The Park.
Franz Ferdinand will
play Weston Park, Staffordshire on the Saturday and Hylands Park, Chelmsford, on the
Sunday. The two-day festival takes place over the two sites on the weekend of 20-21 August.
Singer Alex Kapranos
said: "We heard about what a great festival V was to play last year and wished we could've been there. We're really
excited to be playing the main stage and co-headlining with the Scissor Sisters - we'll be sure to give fans a performance
to remember."
V Festival director Bob Angus commented: "With Scissor Sisters, and now Franz Ferdinand confirmed to perform, we're confident that this years V Festival will live up
to it's reputation for fantastic live music. There's more news to come and we look forward to unveiling a unparalleled main
stage joint headline act, who, with these two acts, will make for unbeatable electric atmosphere!"
V Festival
traditionally has four headliners (two each day) and more line-up announcements are expected in the next couple
of weeks. Oasis and Maroon 5 are hotly tipped to be the other bill toppers.
