Snow, schnapps and soundsystems! It's time for Snowbombing 2011!
What to see, what to pack, what to drink and more!

Daniel Fahey - 31 March 2011
What’s it all about then?
Not your run of the mountain festival, Snowbombing is a heads-first
blizzard of winter sports, ice cool bass-bin breakers and full on sleep deprivation that will spit you out sideways. Winner
of the Best European Festival at the Festival Awards last year, organisers are trying to piste all over their record so far
with more mayhem, nonsense and Jagermiester than ever before!
That sounds good. What does it look like?
A little something like this...
I want in! Any tips?
Give those bruised ribs a tickle with an avalanche of laughs thanks
to the Altitude Comedy Festival settling in Mayrhofen with Andrew Maxwell, Marcus Brigstocke
and more.
Great. What should I be drinking?
Schnapps, Jagermeister and Red Bull. It doesn’t
have to be all in the same glass, but it could help as you attempt to stay warm and awake for the entire duration: 144 hours.
Anything I mustn't forget?
Your fancy dress. You can leave your skis on the airport carrousel
or cross the border hanging underneath a clapped-out Skoda if your passport is out of date, but it’s difficult to create
a costume from Hans The Butcher’s meat and the wares in the Mayrhofen Spar. Though, if Lady Gaga can manage it…
Who should I watch?
Well, this lot below for starters and you can see who else is on the Snowbombing line-up here.
The Prodigy
These eardrum-schanpping beasts don’t require an introduction, they’re
likely to produce a show that will even shake the pines from the evergreens.
Todd Terje
Todd Terje is the nu-disco remix extraordinaire who has spaced out everything from Adam And The Ants to Wham!.
He plays trippy, bongo-laden records – which might sound like he's hosting a beatnik’s barn dance - but ticket-holders
can expect a set of Balearic beauties.
The Milk
One of the most inventive and entertaining
new bands on the live circuit, The
Milk present 60s soul with swagger and boast more samples than Martin’s Money Saving Tips.
Joker
Sure, when it comes to bass, Skream and Benga
may be seen as one (dub)step ahead of their competition but Bristol’s Joker has been slowing brimming towards a monster breakthrough as his speaker-shuddering sounds warp
the minds of those who have caught him DJ.
Mistajam
Legendary 1Xtra tastemaker and all
round bass boy Mistajam
feeds the airwaves with grime, garage, dubstep and anything else that he considers a banger. Now’s the chance to see
how well it transposes to the dancefloor.
