Oxfam help to Make Trade Fair at NASS

12 July 2005
The charity Oxfam mingled with the bikers and skaters at NASS this year, to raise awareness about the campaign
to Make Trade Fair. The Oxfam coffee tent - filled with sofas, board games, DJs
and a massive cinema screen playing extreme sports films at night - provided a touch of relief and recuperation for exhausted
festival-goers over the weekend.
There was also a whole load of information about Make Trade Fair - which aims to put pressure
on global leaders to change global trade rules. Trade is a crucial part of the Make Poverty History campaign,
and was one of the key elements missing from the G8 summit last week.
Whilst at NASS volunteers collected well over 5,000 signatures for the Big Noise Petition, which calls for decision makers around the world to Make
Trade Fair. You can add your name to this by clicking here. And the punters loved the Make Trade Fair tattoos, Make Poverty History white bands and the
brilliant Oxfam campervan.
As one NASS-goer, Vicky Dowdeswell (17), picured, from Bristol said, "Oxfam coming to festivals is brilliant,
because it means they get through to an audience who hadn't heard of the issues before, and really raise awareness."
