Editorial: Tweets, 'leaks' and line-up tweaks
By DanVF on 26 January 2012
There’s a quote I quite like: “Stupefaction, when it persists, becomes stupidity.” The latest attempted surprise came from another Sonisphere rumours ‘leak’, this time courtesy of a new Twitter account.
“TWO headliners, NINE support acts”, it boldly promised, before duly announcing the likes of Queen with Adam Lambert and Green Day as confirmations. No mention though that one of those “NINE support acts”, As I Lay Dying, already have three dates booked in the USA over the Knebworth weekend. It seemed good, but no Jimmy Saville smokes.
It looks as if we can nearly scratch Blink-182 off that rumour list as well. Eden Sessions have pulled it out of the recyclable bag and booked them for Sunday 8 July and with a date in Bournemouth a day before it will be between T in the Park 2012 and Sonisphere 2012 for that Friday slot.
Surely they have to make amends to the Scottish festival after pulling out last summer? Check our T in the Park rumours round-up for more.
There were two more big stories this week: one was a surprise, the other, frankly, wasn’t. Organisers confirmed that Truck Festival is back for 2012, under the management of Y-Not Festival and Kanye West was 45-minutes late for his Big Day Out show. It was raining.
In the features section, we chatted with Camden Crawl 2012 headliners Death in Vegas ahead of what is to be a very busy festival summer, while David Hillier traced the career of Wakestock 2012 bill-topper Dizzee Rascal.
I can’t stop listening to the superb debut offering from The 2 Bears. Robyn Burrows leaves her thoughts on the LP here. They haven’t made the line-up for RockNess Festival 2012 (yet), but there is plenty for dance lovers in Scotland with Deadmau5 and Justice performing alongside Mumford and Sons and Biffy Clyro. The RockNess Express sounds good as well.
Have a great week,
