About Hultsfred Festival 2008
Hultsfred Festival turns 21 this year and it remains Sweden's largest and oldest youth-oriented event. The festival has a
capacity of nearly 30,000 which means the town quadruples in population for the three-day soiree.
Over 150 acts are
booked each year with a selection of Swedish acts complementing the bill which inevitably includes some of the world's biggest
artists. Organisers have an open-genre musical palate which means metal and hip hop stars can be on the line-up with rock
and world-music artists.
The festival has seven stages and has hosted performances from Radiohead, Snoop Dogg, Bjork
and Fatboy Slim, however the event controversially booked Babyshambles in 2006 which prompted protest from fans due to the
festival's anti-drugs stance. The band went on an hour late before Pete Doherty fell off the stage.
The festival runs
from Thursday to Saturday but revellers can camp from the start of the week.
