About Glade Festival 2009

After spending five years as the renegade dance tent at Glastonbury, the Glade Festival decided to pack its beats and breakaway as its own multi-genre dance event.

Since taking the decision the festival has expanded to 12 main arenas including an outdoor stage and this year organisers have taken the decision to move venue.

Live acts and DJs are both booked for the electronic event which houses a spectrum of dance shoot-offs including break, psy trance, techno, breakcore, rave, jungle and a chill out area too, if it all gets too much.

The festival has a completely corporate-free feel but still manages to bring in some of dance's biggest names and cutting edge mixoligists such as Digitalism, UNKLE, Krafty Kuts and Plump DJs who have all performed in recent years.

AGreenerFestival say this about the festival: An award winner in 2007 The Glade had an on site sorting point where all litter is searched through by hand with estimated 70% of all waste, including cans, bottles, paper card and some plastics recycled. There is on site composting for food waste and compostable plates and cutlery. Organiser Nick Ladd said "Previously our waste has been sorted for recycling off site, but we were never sure how effectively it was being done - by taking it in house we now know we are making a big difference to our landfill impact".
