Bulldog Bash 2002 Review
United Kingdom | |
11 August 2002
This festival,
set in the deep dark depths of the Warwickshire countryside surpassed all expectations of all those who went, people who had
come from all corners of the globe to enjoy a feast of machines, music, merriment and mayhem.
The poor weather could
not detract from the fantastic variety of music and other entertainment provided throughout the weekend, two stages providing
an excellent backdrop for a wide genre of bands to suit all ages and taste.
Friday afternoon
saw Throat open with an enthusiastic set, including an amusing cover of the Osmonds' Crazy Horses. Black
Rebel Motorcycle Club played a mean, moody and magnificent set to lead in the main attraction of the night, The
Pretenders, who for 45 minutes belted out their classic numbers with style and sex appeal, proving that Chrissie
Hynde still has what it takes to impress an audience.
Saturday's
music scene started with the scantily clad Queen Adrena covering the outside stage, if not much of herself,
during her intense performance. They were followed closely by No. 1 Son, slinging out their stuff with
gusto and great energy, using every available inch of the stage. Spear of Destiny played with aggression
and aplomb winning over an initially unsympathetic crowd. Fast on their heels were One Minute Silence whose
grungy chords were upstaged by the antics and energetic cavorting of their bass player.
Disappointingly, Biohazard didn't
put in an appearance, however Wildhearts pulled back a disgruntled crowd and put on a stunning performance
an excellent aural warm up to an eagerly awaited Gary Moore. On stage for the best part of an hour,
this master of his craft bought alive the true sprit of heavy blues rock mingled with a magical demonstration of melodic guitar
playing. An enthralled and entranced audience enthused to his soulful classic 'Still got the blues' closely followed by a
rollercoster of magnificent numbers to conclude an amazing performance.
