Two stages of
alternating rock left thousands reeling from an enjoyment overload as Distortion 2002 took Nottingham's Woolaton Park by storm
this Saturday.
From 'the loudest and best acoustic punk band in the world' (The
Levellers) to the band responsible for huge upsurges in demand for green hair dye (Green Day), the acts hit the stages in <A href='/artists/az/106'
title='A'><A href='/artists/az/106' title='A'>A relentless metronomic tic-toc
fashion that may have resulted in similar neck strains to those experienced by tennis fans at Wimbledon.
As the action alternated from the big
main dome to the smaller Rock City stage right alongside, the crowd just couldn't get enough of the building crescendo of
rock excess that drove the gig forward on <A href='/artists/az/106' title='A'><A href='/artists/az/106' title='A'>A tidal wave of frenetic energy.
Crowd surfers were
warned about excessive enthusiasm, with <A href='/artists/az/106' title='A'><A href='/artists/az/106' title='A'>A strict 'three times and you're out' policy, but as the only way
of monitoring the mosh riding was to put <A href='/artists/az/106' title='A'><A href='/artists/az/106' title='A'>A black pen mark on people's hands as they were dragged from the
pit, we guess that <A href='/artists/az/106' title='A'><A href='/artists/az/106' title='A'>A little uncharacteristic festival hand washing might have been the
reason why we didn't see anyone being evicted from the site!
