DJ Fresh - Beach Break Live review

'It's great to see the place explode'

Taking things live after a brace of number one singles, DJ Fresh and his band profited both from another break in the clouds and from being billed before the weekend's biggest headliner.

With the rain-battered Beach Breakers restored and in the mood to party, it was wise to throw in the likes of Dead Prez's 'Hip Hop' and a cover of Coldplay's 'Paradise' into the mix.

New songs like 'The Edge' were more along the lines of Magnetic Man than the DJ's recent catchy chart-toppers, but they brought some welcome variety and harshness to a set that, while enjoyable, felt a bit underpowered next to Chase & Status' set last night and the hip-hop sets this evening.

Naturally, 'Hot Right Now' and 'Louder' are saved til last, with pogoing, people on friends' shoulders, the works, and it's great to see the place explode.

Funnily enough, Fresh's newest hit, 'The Power' featuring Dizzee, isn't played, with the crowd expecting it to feature during the rapper's headline set.
