Dance duo Chase & Status' appearance on the metal minded Download Festival bill might have caused all sorts of controversy when it was announced earlier this year but tonight their upbeat drum and bass anthems prove the perfect antidote to the muddy misery suffered by the masses.

For 60 short minutes the grey overcast, swamp like underfoot and howling winds are a tad more bearable while well polished London combo Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status) make a mockery of the empty threats about the DJs being bottled off stage.

Plan B appears twice on the backdrop screen for 'End Credits' and 'Pieces' as MC Rage demands and duly receives "carnage" in the circle brown patches which open throughout the crowd in front if him.

'Let You Go' and 'No Problem' have the entire field cutting shapes in unison and with the amount of fans signing along to every verse tonight it marks a flawless victory for the Download booking team who took a daring gamble on the dance act who have set the stage perfectly for The Prodigy.
