Rock Werchter 2004

Rock
Werchter - or the TW Festival - is one of the oldest and biggest festivals in Europe. Over the years it has evolved
into a 4-day Festival, with not just rock, but also dance, pop and R&B. The Belgian festival has always managed to secure
an appealing line-up and in the last five years big names like REM, Metallica, Sting,
Oasis, Coldplay, Björk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The
Cure, and Paul Weller have taken the stage. The festival is growing bigger and bigger every
year, as festival goers from the neighbouring countries The Netherlands, France and Germany flood over the border.
This is also a major influence on the downfall of festivals like Pinkpop in The Netherlands.
This year David Bowie was supposed to be one of the headliners. Not many festivals can get away with
the cancellation of the likes of Mr Bowie, but Rock Werchter did. Instead of frantically searching for a replacement
of the same ilk, Rock Werchter decided to give the honour to Belgium's own '2 Many DJ's'. It turned out to be a great
decision, complimenting an already fantastic bill, including the likes of Pixies, Metallica,
Pink, The Cure, Muse, Lenny Kravitz, Sean Paul,
Wu Tang Clan and Cypress Hill.
