We Love... Homelands People!

25 May 2003

Not that many festival goers ever need an excuse to dress up, Homelands always provides a great opportunity to catch your eyes on some of the more extravagant characters around...

The Characters Of Homelands

Please click on a photo to enlarge it...

As with any festival, it's the character who make it what it is. Despite being overloaded with a choice of live acts and world wrecking DJs, we managed to pick out the most beautiful freaks from around the glorious Matterley Bowl.

The Scouser

Every festival has to have one. Sadly ours wasn't actually from the Mersey.

Name: Dave
Age: 32
From: Holland (doh!)
Visits to Homelands: First timer
Fave acts: De La Soul, Grandmaster Flash
Why do you love Homelands? The great atmosphere, the cool people. It's just really nice man!
What's with the Liverpool shirt? I got it free, I support Feyenord

The Food Stall Owner

Normally he does pasta, but last year it didn't do too well, so Fred and co are here this year with a BBQ next to the Radio 1 Stage.

Name: Fred Cooper
Company: The Crazy Diamond Cooking Company
Hottest thing on the menu: Steak sandwich
Visits to Homelands: Two
What other fests do you do? Reading, Glastonbury, Guildford
Fave music: Northern soul, Motown. My kids like dance though!
What's so great about Homelands? Everyone's got a smile. There's no rowdy types here, it's just a great atmosphere.

If you want to book Fred to cater at your event, email thecrazydiamondcookingcompany@hotmail.com

Fit Northern Girls

The beautiful buxom young ladies. One of the many things Homelands is famous for!

Names: Sam and Gemma
Age: 18
From: Salisbury
Fave acts: Anyone who plays shit hot tunes!
What are you here for? A bit of fun!

Robed Reveller

Looking like a relic from some old war recreation day they probably hold round here when there's no raves, this chap was just lucky the mud held off...

Name: Simon
From: Salisbury
Visits to Homelands: First timer
Face act: Groove Armada
Fave album: Coldplay's A Rush Of Blood To The Head
Concoction for the day: MDMA power

Wasp Man

Yellow combats and face paint like an American wrestler one of the most eye catching characters had to be this guy...

Name: Simon
Age: 20 - 21 in August
Visits to Homelands: Three
Fave acts: Lisa Pinup or Lisa Lashes - are they playing?!!
Why are you here? To PARTY!
What are you on? Poppers, copious amounts of alcohol, nicotine and tar, and speed too!
