Do you have the attitude of Arctic Monkeys, the song-writing skills of Rufus Wainwright, the imagination of Gorrilaz, or the voice of Elbow's Guy Garvey? Or do you rate yourself as better than that lot put together? Then we can help...
Bands and musicians are now being invited to register for Local Heroes, a nationwide quest to root out undiscovered local talent and propel the best new acts onto the national stage, playing to thousands in the great outdoors.
Two lucky bands will win a summer tour, playing at six major music festivals, including Summer Sundae, Beautiful Days, and Get Loaded In The Park, as part of our online initiative - with fans, new and old, helping to choose the winners.
The remaining bands and musicians registered with Local Heroes will find themselves part of a vibrant and ongoing online community, which has been designed to help budding local music scenes flourish and impact on a wider audience.
The most proactive bands and artists will be featured on Virtual Festivals, as well as receiving local press attention by our partner, Newsquest, which owns hundreds of local newspapers up and down the country.
To find out more, visit www.LHeroes.co.uk where you’ll be able to register a band profile, make songs available for download, and post pictures and blogs. There is a one-off joining fee of £9.99.
Then all you need to do is get your fanbase interacting via the site. The busier your homepage, the more points you or your band will accrue towards conquering your local region. The top acts from each of nine regions will then go on to play a live national final in London, with the top two going on the exclusive summer festival tour.
All genres of music are welcome. Bands and artists can register from now until 1 June, at which point fans will be invited to decide on their favourites by listening to and downloading tracks. So get out there, get registered, get gigging, and spread the word at your gigs and through your websites.
The winning bands will play at the following festivals: Summer Sundae, Beautiful Days, Get Loaded In The Park, Bulldog Bash, Global Gathering, and one more to be confirmed.
Local Heroes is being run in association with Newsquest, Yamaha, Bandwagon.com, and Roundpoint. Visit www.LHeroes.co.uk for more.
