Virtual Festivals has been nominated in two categories at the 2005 BT Digital Music Awards.
The BT Digital Music Awards are The Brits of digital technology, celebrating everything from best download site to the best single. All nominees were shortlisted by a panel of experts from the music and digital industries.
Virtual Festivals is up against Coldplay, dbass, Napster and Last FM in the category of 'Best Digital Music Community', which aims to find the most active online music community out there.
Says Virtual Festivals Founder and Managing Director Steve Jenner: "We honestly reckon there's no contest. Just look at our message boards and you'll find thousands of registered users all chatting to each other about festivals; discussing rumoured lineups, planning their journeys and camping arrangements, reliving their experiences, and loads more.
We're aware of a number of real-life romances that have blossomed from this community, including several marriages and at least one birth! How many online communities can boast that they have created life? We're thrilled to have been nominated."
Virtual Festivals has also been shortlisted in the 'Best Innovation' category for the'Festival Buzz' application, which gave festival fans at Reading and Leeds exclusive lineup info and news bulletins straight to their mobile.
A ceremony will be held at Hammersmith Apollo next month and will be broadcast on Channel 4.
