If you're heading to the Isle of Wight from 8th-11th of September then it had better be for Bestival! With the likes of Kelis, Pendulum, Nero and (get your cowboy hats ready..) the Village People, you're bound to have a fist-pumping weeked!
I’d like to take the chance to give a shout-out to mother nature, if you’re listening, in the words of Elton John – don’t let the sun go down on me! Keep that sun shining all weekend long!!! But on the off chance she’s got her headphones in, here’s what to pack, whatever the weather may be.
I’m so in love with Friday’s set for the girls – I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kate Moss rocking around in this. We’ve got a pair of compulsory festival shorts but not as you would expect them, these are high waisted and denim but in a burst of colour, cerise is our favourite but check out the other options. Wear with a boob tube, this particular one will work well with the cerise of the shorts. Pull on some cosy Hunter fleece socks which, once folded over an “average” wellington boot, will make it look as if it is, in fact, a ‘Hunter’ wellington with its iconic print across the top of the lining (TOP TIP)! However, with an incredible pair of Wedge Wellies, you won’t want hide where you got these from WedgeWelly.co.uk. To top that, they currently have 20% off of them for a limited time only, just enter the code ‘FAB20’ at check out – so get yours quick! Finish the look with a biker chic leather jacket – try this River Island one, though a little pricey, will last you through all the seasons.
On Saturday, we’ve got a more classic pair of high waisted shorts, though I’m really won over by the detailing of the many buttons running along the front. Tuck a blouse of longline vest into them as you have more material to work with and you can puff it over the top of the shorts for a looser, relaxed feel. Team with some quirky tights, a bright, chunky knit cardigan and a floaty scarf if the weather turns cold. Add some trusty laced boots to keep your feet dry and comfy and to ward off any mud that might come your way!
Sunday, again, has a different take on what to take to a festival – instead of packing a plain pair of leggings, why not exchange them for leather look trousers to up the flavour. Continue the look with this must have MTV tank top and white ¾ jersey top and some converse. In case the sky is looking cloudy, throw on this hooded gilet for extra warmth and as a precaution for rain. If the sun should be shining then don’t forget to sport your Festival Spectacles, with 6 pairs of different colour lensesto choose from you can’t go wrong!
To kick start the weekend, the lads should get those all important skinny jeans on and pair it with a statement t-shirt I particularly like the “peace” sign here with the British flag as its fill – very patriotic! Put with a denim jacket and chocolate coloured, lace up boots. If you want to work the double denim look then don’t wear colours that are too similar as you’ll blend into a block of denim – offset each piece by wearing coloured denim with classic stonewash denim. Before you set off, grab your Festival Spectacles with the pink lenses in and you’re away!
Saturday’s outfit is made for a cloudy day with a chance of showers – the thought is depressing but its one to consider! I love the stitching and detailing on these jeans, a definite must have and alternative to beat the straight up and down jeans you were THINKING of bringing. Worn with a cowl neck t-shirt will keep the chill off as well as a pair of Lacoste, fleece lined wellies. For extra measure, grab yourself a cardigan or jumper to go with it – try this khaki cardigan, the buttons liven up what could have been a bland choice.
Sunday’s set is a bit of fun, get your legs out in these chino style shorts and get people staring at your chest with this “FIT” t-shirt. Loving the attention so far? Well turn it up a notch with an eye catching Adidas hoodie in bright green and the ladies will spot you a mile off – in a good way! Slip your feet into some plimsolls to finish.
Have a wicked time and don’t forget your festival cider!
