The birthchild of Groove Armada, Lovebox spent its first two years on London’s Clapham Common before moving north of the river for 2005 and expanding into a two day event – to resounding success.
Boasting around seven stages, the two-day dance festival will once again grace Victoria Park and organisers are contemplating diversifying the event further from its live dance roots to accommodate the growing boom in guitar-led, indie bands (although nothing is confirmed as yet).
Expect the twisted cabaret of Lost Vagueness to make its second visit, as well as a plethora of diverting side attractions. Organisers are aiming to turn Lovebox into a ‘small-scale urban Glastonbury’ and with no Glasto this year, this could well be one of the best alternatives. Just leave your tent at home because there’s no camping! There’s also no parking so use public transport (nearest tube Mile End).
Each day runs from about 12pm – 10pm. There’s access for wheelchairs. No glass bottles or alcohol.
