Rob da Bank’s Weekly Blog #5

I’ve been skiving off somewhat this week, having a week off with the da Bank clan, although getting up at 5.30am, changing nappies and dealing with tantrums sometimes seems harder work than work… If you know what I mean!
Seems like the maniac rush of announces in festival land is starting to slow down as most of the festies are announced now and getting on with the job of selling the tickets. Talking to fellow promoters everyone seems upbeat but as we all know, no one speaks the whole truth… until you’re sold out! Sad to see some new entries to the market have to cancel before they even happen. The Homecoming Festival in Scotland looked like a good un but licensing fees seem to have been their undoing and what with no Connect festival this year north of the border it’s a straight battle between Rock Ness and T In The Park aside from the ace Belladrum and Scotland's other boutique shows.

I’m hosting my Rob da Bank & Friends / Sunday Best tent up at Rock Ness. More news on that to follow! I love T and Rock Ness, the Scottish just seem to dive in head first – crazy dancing and even crazier drinking always make for an ace atmosphere. Pass the deep fried Mars Bars.
This years ATP – Nightmare Before Christmas curated by My Bloody Valentine looks like one of the best yet. I’ll have to wait til December but I'll be packing my earplugs for the likes of MBV themselves, Sonic Youth, De La Soul and rap legends EPMD. My kinda line up!
Meanwhile if you’re really bored next Friday come down and watch me and some other festival folk whitter on about the Future Of Festivals at the grand finale of the brilliant Ether (including Virtual's own Steve Jenner). There’s a cracking two for one offer on at the mo (see below) and I'll be buying drinks at the bar after.*
* For the first three people who harass me about this promise!
* Special 2 for 1 ticket offer: quote 'Future Festivals'. Phone Southbank Centre Ticket Office: 0871 663 2500
