This year BBC Electric Proms will be co-hosted by London and Liverpool with massive shows to intimate gigs. Of the 80-plus acts each is given creative freedom and encouraged to try out something new.

In previous events there has been a duet between Paul Weller and Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs perform with the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and Noel Gallagher playing with The Coral.

The five-day festival also showcases music films, up-and-coming bands and will hold a special night in the memory of the late John Peel.
